Part 3 of the acrylic pouring techniques series brings us
another four styles and techniques that form part of this trending art
form.
As in the other parts of the
series, for the different acrylic pouring techniques we have chosen different
artists that demonstrate on YouTube how the various effects are achieved.
DUTCH POUR
The Dutch pour is one of the most trending styles in
acrylic pouring at the moment. It was
started by Rinske Douna from the Netherlands.
Rinske mixes just acrylic paint and water for this pour, creating some
very beautiful effects. It looks
deceptively simple but definitely, it is not.
A hairdryer is used for the Dutch pour.
It is very important not to overwork the paint, a case in point where
less is more. Rinske Douna prefers to
work with a white base but with the right colours, a black base can be awesome
also. Rinske’s gorgeous personality and
beautiful results make her acrylic pouring youtube videos very enjoyable to
watch.

FLIP AND DRAG
In the flip and drag method, paint is layered into cups
that are flipped and then dragged on a wet base. The canvas (or surface) is then tilted to
achieve whichever effect one is seeking.
In the video below, Mixed Media Girl shows a flip and drag done on a
large canvas. Awesome results.

FLIP CUP
The flip cup
method is achieved by layering the paint into a cup which is then flipped onto
a canvas. It is advisable to have a wet
background so that the paint poured can flow easily. For more impressive effects, the cup can be
pierced and left to flow on the surface.
A very beautiful effect especially when captured on video. The canvas is then tilted until the artist is
happy with the result. Tiktus Color Art
excels in the below video where the background music is as impressive as the
art itself. Enjoy !!

FUNNEL POUR
The funnel pour is a very straightforward pour and could
be one style of acrylic pour painting for beginners. The paint is poured into the funnel and seeps
slowly onto the canvas. There is no
guesswork regarding the amount of paint needed either. Just prepare the colours, pour one by one
into the funnel and when you have enough paint on the canvas you can stop. As you can see in the video, Wigglz’ Art
moves the funnel in a way that the paint pours either to one side or the other
thus creating a very special effect that shows up when the canvas is finally
tilted. A breathtaking painting !!
