ACRYLIC POURING TECHNIQUES: PART 1

This is Part 1 of a series of acrylic pouring techniques.  Acrylic pouring is a trending art with many different styles and techniques and we will be looking at these techniques one by one.  We will follow the techniques in alphabetical order so if you notice that I have left out a technique just let me know in the comments  😊

Each part of the series will be made up of four techniques.  For each technique we have chosen a different artist so that beginners can get familiar with pouring artists to follow on YouTube.

BALLOON SMASH / KISS

This looks soooo easy but until you get the hang of it, you will sweat !!  It all depends on the pressure of the balloon on the wet canvas, and the way to lift it up.  As in all techniques, you have to practise until you master it, and then some more.  Watch tutorials on YouTube and then go and have fun.  The balloon smash / kiss can save a painting that might have gone somehow wrong.  You can add this technique on other styles of paint pouring.  Some very beautiful effects in the video by Erica Hughes Art.

BOTTLE BOTTOM POUR

The bottle bottom pour is a very straightforward pour that depends on the right paint consistency so that the effect of the pour shows.  The cut out bottle bottom creates a nice design.  Just make sure that it is cut straight because otherwise the design will be lopsided.  Sandra Lett has this technique mastered to perfection.

CHAIN PULL

The chain pull technique might be a bit difficult to start off with but once mastered, it gives a really eye catching result.  Different chains can be used for diverse effects.  In the video below, Susan King also shows how to make a beautiful background that shows off the chain pull design in a very attractive way.

CLOUD POUR

In the cloud effect pour, the white takes over giving a dreamy and cloudy effect to the painting.  Mely D. makes an excellent tutorial with very beautiful results.  I am in love with this painting.
